How does Valkyrie work, step by step?

1

How does Valkyrie connect to Stripe?

You authorize Valkyrie to read your Stripe account via OAuth. This takes about 60 seconds. We never move money, create charges, or change any settings, we only read your payment data.

2

How does Valkyrie analyze failed payments?

We scan your last 90 days of charges and classify every failed payment into three buckets: what Stripe already recovered on its own, what is genuinely recoverable with outreach, and what is unresolvable. You see all three numbers clearly.

3

How does Valkyrie recover failed payments?

For payments classified as recoverable, we send branded emails to your customers asking them to update their card. When a customer updates their card and the charge succeeds, we log it as a recovery. You pay 25% of what lands back in your account, after a 7-day hold.

What data can Valkyrie access in my Stripe account?

What we read

  • Your recent charges and their outcomes
  • Failed payment details and decline reasons
  • Customer contact information for outreach
  • Subscription and invoice status

What we never access

  • Your full card numbers or CVV codes
  • Your bank account or payout details
  • Your Stripe account settings or API keys
  • Any ability to create charges or move money

You can verify this yourself. After connecting, go to your Stripe dashboard, click Settings, then Connected accounts, and you will see exactly what permissions Valkyrie has been granted.

How does Valkyrie know what it actually recovered?

How we attribute recoveries

This is the part most recovery tools gloss over. When a failed payment eventually succeeds, there are two possible reasons: Stripe retried the same card automatically and it worked, or the customer updated their card after receiving our outreach email and the new card succeeded. We only count the second case as a Valkyrie recovery and only bill for that. If Stripe would have recovered it anyway through its own Smart Retries, we do not charge you for it. We determine this by checking whether the successful charge used a different payment method than the one that originally failed. Same card succeeding later means Stripe did the work. Different card means we did. This distinction is shown clearly on your dashboard for every single transaction.

How and when does Valkyrie charge me?

When is a recovery confirmed?

We detect a successful charge on a previously failed invoice using a new payment method. This gets logged as a recovery in your dashboard immediately.

What is the 7-day hold?

We wait 7 days before billing you for any recovery. This protects you against edge cases like chargebacks or disputes that appear shortly after a card is updated. If a recovery is reversed within 7 days, we remove it from your bill.

How often does Valkyrie invoice me?

Your billing date is set the day you activate, and stays fixed every month after that. On that date, we invoice for every recovery that's cleared its 7-day hold since your last invoice - one itemized invoice showing every recovery included, the amount recovered, and the fee charged. If nothing is recovered, you are never charged.

How do I cancel and what happens to my data?

Cancel any timeThere are no contracts, no minimum terms, and no cancellation fees. You can disconnect Valkyrie from your Stripe account at any time from your Stripe dashboard under Settings, Connected accounts. Once disconnected, we stop all recovery activity immediately.

What happens to your dataWhen you cancel, your merchant record and scan history are retained for 90 days in case you want to reconnect. After 90 days, or immediately on written request, we permanently delete all data associated with your account including scan results, recovery logs, and customer contact information we accessed on your behalf.

Request deletionTo request immediate data deletion, email bruce@valkyriemrr.com with the subject line Data deletion request and your Stripe account email. We will confirm deletion within 5 business days.
